Over the past few weeks I have noticed that my G4 Powerbook was slowing down. Searches using Spotlight were a bit sluggish. I also wanted to remove old programs that I no longer needed or apps I hadn’t used in a long time. There are programs like AppZapper that aide in software uninstalls, but AppZapper costs money. After a little searching, I found AppDelete. AppDelete may not be as fancy as AppZapper, however it still deletes the apps and is free. To optimize the system, clean out the Spotlight index, and do other system maintaince I searched and found OnyX. OnyX allows users to clean up their system, change User Interface settings, and view logs (among other things). In a few minutes I had Spotlight reindexing my system, now Spotlight is much quicker. I also have more space on my system after deleteing caches and removing old apps.
