A year of playing with my Wii
I have almost had my Wii for a year now. Yes I still remember the fun of waiting in line for the Wii at a 24 hour Wal-Mart. A friend and I stood in line at 4:15 am on a freezing cold December morning. We were lucky, there were 15 Wiis that day, I was 8th and my friend was 9th in line. From the moment I got the Wii in my hot little hands, the Wii hasn’t ever disappointed. Wii Sports was fun; I seem to be able to beat the pants off of my friends in tennis. My wife and others lovethe Wii as well; in fact the Wii got my mother, who never has liked the idea of video games, to play bowling and tennis. After growing tired of playing Wii Sports I purchased Need for Speed Carbon. It was fun, even if the control of the cars was a bit hard to master. I needed to buy a second wiimote, lucky for me there is Wiiplay, it made it easier to say “Dear we need another wiimote, and Wii Play comes with one, it is a great value- a remote and several mini games for just ten bucks more than the remote”. Yep my wife said “sure”, and so Wii Play was gotten. It is ok, not a real show stopper, but for ten bucks more than just a remote it was worth it.
Next I bought Splinter Cell Double Agent. It was fun, butI enjoyed the Splinter Cell series more on the PC. My Wife decided that she was going to practice her cooking skills with Cooking Mama: Cook Off. It is fun, strange at times but fun. Resident Evil 4 was my next purchase. I spend hours playing that game, unlocking items and upgrades. Any for once a shooter game feels a natural on a console as it does using the keyboard and mouse of a PC. I hope there will be more games like resident evil made for the Wii. My latest buy is Super Mario Galaxy. I must say that this Super Mario is one of the best Mario games in a long time.
Now one great thing that the Wii has is the ability to play older games. I love that I can still run GameCubegames or download Virtual Console games. I have Sonic for the Sega Genesis, among other games, and it is just as fun as I remember. My wife and I have been playing Donkey Konga. We might have made the neighbors mad with all the noise of clapping and beating on the congas.
So after a year of owning the Wii, I can say it has been one of the best years of playing Nintendo consoles.
